MotoCrane ULTRA Specs, Manuals, Error Codes and Field Guide
Universal 12 ft remote arm built for track and off-road work.
What it is
ULTRA is MotoCrane's universal remote arm, designed in 2018. It weighs 190 lbs unloaded and packs into an available 5-piece flight case set.
It mounts to cars, trucks, UTVs, boats and custom rigs with 4 TUV certified 2 inch speedrail clamps. The SSG Kit builds a temporary speedrail grid on almost any vehicle.
The ULTRA Isolator gives adjustable passive 3-axis dampening for the head. The COMMAND Console PRO is listed as standard and runs on an automotive-grade CAN-BUS link, with no Bluetooth or WiFi.

Questions
- Can I send a module to MotoCrane for repair without calling first?
- No. MotoCrane says not to send modules without an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number from MotoCrane Support.
- What does INS Advanced Stabilization do on ULTRA?
- It is a 3-part ULTRA upgrade: a bolt-on AHRS sensor, a lift motor rated for 2.5 times the speed at the same torque, and controller firmware with an INS tuning interface. It helps the lift axis hold lens height when the vehicle changes angle, such as a parking ramp, a ditch or a curb.
- Can I install INS on my ULTRA myself?
- Not the whole upgrade. The lift motor swap is done by MotoCrane in Minneapolis, and the price includes that labor. You can mount and remove the INS sensor on the booms and update firmware yourself, using the ULTRA Programming Kit or by sending the controller in with the Turret.
- Will INS make my stabilized head work better?
- No. INS affects the ULTRA lift axis. It reduces vertical parallax of the lens. It does not fix high frequency shake from a poorly tuned head. The passive Isolator still handles high frequency jolts.
- Can the MotoCrane Update Tool update RADICAL or ULTRA?
- No. MotoCrane says the Update Tool works with products released after 2024, which means the TITAN line and its accessories. ULTRA, HYPER and RADICAL are not supported. ULTRA modules are updated with the ATMEL ICE flashloader in the ULTRA Programming Kit.
- What voltage does a MotoCrane arm need?
- RADICAL and ULTRA take 48VDC into the PSU, 45 to 60VDC max. Above 60VDC causes permanent damage. The source should deliver at least 40A peak.
