How to power a MotoCrane RADICAL or ULTRA with 48V
Both arms run from a 48VDC source into the MotoCrane PSU, 45 to 60VDC max. Over 60VDC causes permanent damage. The PSU cabling ends in a gray Anderson SB50 connector, with flying leads for custom builds.

1Pick a source
MotoCrane lists three routes: the UPC (four V-Mount batteries, no lithium inside the UPC itself, so it travels easily) with the optional 12VA for running off the vehicle's 12V battery; the MotoBatt 48V 18Ah LiFePO4 battery; or four matched 12V lead-acid batteries wired in series.
2Size the capacity
The RADICAL guide says 15Ah covers a typical 8 hour day. The ULTRA guide says 10Ah. Busier arm work needs more capacity or a backup. 20, 30 or 50Ah batteries are fine.
3Check peak discharge
The source must deliver at least 40A peak, especially at high speed. The RADICAL PSU is rated 50A peak.
4Wire series packs correctly
In series, voltages add and amp-hours do not. Every battery in the string should have the same Ah rating.
5Watch the controller
The COMMAND Console warns you as voltage nears the upper or lower limit. See codes 122 to 126 (RADICAL) or 121 to 124 (ULTRA).
